Millipede
About Millipedes
Millipedes are dark, cylindrical arthropods with dozens of legs, usually 1–2 inches long. They feed on decaying plant matter and thrive in moist outdoor environments like mulch beds, soil, and leaf litter.
Risks & Concerns
They do not bite, sting, or damage property, but they may become a nuisance when they migrate indoors seeking moisture, especially into basements, garages, and crawl spaces. Large numbers can be alarming.
Prevention & Control
Reduce outdoor moisture, clear leaves and mulch near foundations, and seal cracks around doors and windows. Indoors, a dehumidifier helps deter infestations.
