House Mouse
About House Mice
House mice (Mus musculus) are small, 2–3 inch rodents with gray-brown fur and long tails. They enter buildings through tiny gaps as small as ¼ inch, often nesting in walls, attics, and storage areas close to food sources.
Risks & Concerns
House mice contaminate food with droppings, gnaw on materials, and create a musky odor. They also spread allergens that can trigger asthma, particularly in children. Their rapid breeding makes infestations spread quickly if left untreated.
Prevention & Control
Seal small cracks around foundations and utility lines, store food in sealed containers, and reduce clutter. Traps can help control small infestations, but larger problems usually require professional treatment.
