Honey Bee
About Honey Bees
Honey bees (Apis mellifera) are golden-yellow insects with black bands, about ½ inch long. They live in colonies with thousands of workers and a queen, producing honey and pollinating flowers and crops.
Risks & Concerns
Honey bees are generally non-aggressive but will sting if their hive is threatened. Stings can be painful and trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Large hives near homes, schools, or businesses can pose safety concerns.
Prevention & Control
Honey bees are protected and important pollinators. If a hive is found in an undesirable location, contact a beekeeper or pest professional trained in live removal and relocation.
