Drain Fly
About Drain Flies
Drain flies (Psychodidae family) are small (⅛ inch), gray or tan flies with fuzzy, moth-like wings. They are often seen resting on bathroom walls or hovering near sinks and drains.
Risks & Concerns
They are harmless but unsanitary, as their larvae thrive in the slimy organic buildup inside drains. Infestations often indicate clogged or dirty drains.
Prevention & Control
Clean drains thoroughly with a stiff brush or drain gel cleaner to remove breeding material. Maintaining clean, free-flowing pipes is the best prevention.
