Species Found in Massachusetts
Ticks
Several mosquito species are prevalent in Massachusetts, and some can transmit diseases to humans and animals.
Black-legged Tick (Ixodes scapularis)
Brown Dog Tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus)
Black-Legged Tick
The deer tick is the primary vector of Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and Powassan virus. It is commonly found in wooded, brushy areas.
American Dog Tick
