House Mouse
These are small rodents with a pointed nose, large ears, and a long, scaly tail. Their fur is typically light brown to gray, with a lighter belly. They are commonly found indoors, especially in kitchens, pantries, garages, and other areas where food and trash are stored. They can nest in wall voids, attics, and basements. House mice are nocturnal and highly adaptable. They reproduce rapidly and can cause significant damage by gnawing on wires, insulation, and other household items.
Norway Rat
Also known as the brown rat, these rodents are larger and more robust. They have a heavy build, small ears, and a blunt nose. Their fur is coarse and brownish, with a lighter underside. They are often found in basements, sewers, and lower levels of buildings. They prefer burrows and can live in various outdoor environments. Norway rats are excellent burrowers and can cause extensive structural damage. They are also known to carry multiple diseases.
Deer Mouse
Deer mice are small rodents with a white underbelly, large eyes, and a bicolored tail. Their fur is typically brownish on top with a white underside. Often found in rural areas, these mice enter homes, especially during colder months. They prefer nesting in attics, basements, and garages. Deer mice are known carriers of hantavirus, which can harm humans. They are excellent climbers and can contaminate food and living areas with droppings.
