Residential
You do the math… Monthly fees for home pest control are nonsense.
Lately it seems that homeowners are being barraged with offers from nefarious pest control companies trying to sell “comprehensive” service programs for a “low” monthly fee. Paying a monthly fee for home pest control services is nonsense. You wouldn’t pay an electrician, plumber, or carpenter for work you might need in the future. Pay for pest control services when, and if, you need them. Next time a salesman asks you to sign up for monthly fees, ask him how long he’s been subscribing.
The truth is, most pest problems can be prevented, and without the use of pesticides. Admittedly, there are parts of the country that do require more aggressive pest management strategies (i.e. in the southern states), but the northeast is very different. Climate, weather, and differences in construction practices are important factors that drive the risk-potential for pests. Most homes will benefit from an annual inspection, and where problems are identified, a prescribed treatment that addresses the root cause.
Generally, residential properties can be categorized. Each type of residential property has its own set of risk factors for pest problems:
Row houses & Brownstones
Common pests found in row houses are similar to those found in multi-family housing properties. Typically, these include cockroaches, ants, rodents, fleas, bed bugs, spiders, stored product pests, and stinging insects. Often, these buildings can present logistical and structural challenges that must be overcome for effective long-term suppression of pests. The major concern lies in the permeability of shared common walls, and the overall condition of neighboring buildings. We assess these properties on a case-by-case basis.
Single Family Homes
Common pests in single-family homes include ants, termites, rodents, fleas, flies, stinging insects, spiders, stored product pests, squirrels, and bats. We offer a one-fee consulting and technical services arrangement for residential properties that spans an entire year. This is not a repetitive pesticide treatment program. It’s an ongoing consulting and technical services arrangement. Most homes in the northeast simply don’t warrant repetitive pesticide treatments. Most general pests are included in this offering. Some restrictions apply.
Condominiums
Sharing a building with others has inherent risks. Cockroaches, bed bugs, rodents, and other vermin are closely associated with human activity and behavior. Put more people under one roof and the pest potential increases exponentially. In condominium settings this is often a frustrating reality when some owners in the building want to take steps to eliminate pests, and others simply refuse. We provide a level of understanding and technical expertise that often defuses these conflicts. We’ve perfected pest management in condominium settings. Allow us to meet with you or your association to insure a successful pest management strategy all the way around.
